Chapter 6
"The Date Continued"
Naruto stared at the giant twin steel circle in awe. The circles were seperated by about fifteen feet from each other, with a box four or six people hung between. Supporting the circles were two sets of iron legs, towering over the tiny ninja in its presence.
"Whoa, what is that, Hinata? Whatever it is, it's not from this world," he said dazed.
"Naruto, um, that's a ferris wheel," she said shyly, a little surprised he'd never seen one before.
"Ah. Ferris wheel. Right. What's a ferris wheel?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hinata held her breath to keep from laughing. He truly didn't know. She took him by the arm and pulled him along.
"Here, let me show you, it'll be fun."
She lead him to the entranceof the attraction and gave the teller two ticket stubs.
The inside of the cab was dark, so Hinata sat down and pulled Naruto in.
"Don't worry, Naruto, trust me."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naruto smiled in the darkness.
"Ok, Hinata. If you know it's safe, I trust you."
The operator asked him to sit down and shut the door. Hinata was still holding his arm, so he just sat next to her. It was a little awkward, but the moment passed as the metal creaked and the cab started to lift. Higher. And Higher.
"Hinata, you didn't say it would go up! I'm afraid of heights!" he yelled, burying his head in her shoulder so he wouldn't see how far up they were still going.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"No, no, it's ok, Naruto," she said, rubbing the back of his head. She was in some shock that he was afraid of heights, because she'd seen him do many things far from the ground.
"When did this happen? I don't remember you ever being afraid of heights."
Naruto shook a little. "It was four years ago, when Pervy Sage taught me summoning jutsu, and I had to ride Cheif Toad for a whole day. He jumps really high!" he said a little shriek in his voice.
Hinata's shock turned to sypmathy. "I'm sorry Naruto, but look now!" she said, pointing to the window.
Naruto lifted his head as light from the village square began to pour in, all the different colors, sounds and scents were all pulled in by the wind. The inside of the cabin reflected the colors, banishing the darkness with spectacular shades of blue purple yellow and red.
Naruto's mouth was agape at the spectacle. "Wow, Hinata, your're right, this is--" his words stopped as he looked at Hinata.
The reflections seemed to focus on her face, her skin soaking them in and her hair shone like the sun. In this lighting, she looked even more beautiful than he could imagine. In fact, he might've needed a new word to describe her.
The wind blew through the cab again, picking up her purple locks and they floated as if on water.
"Hinata. You... you're..."
Hinata caught his gaze, and blushed so hot she swore she would burn. He was so focused on her, and she on him, his blond spiked hair fading into the colored cabin and his blue eyes, clear as crystal.
"Y-yes Naruto..." she said, not knowing what else to say.
Their faces started to inch together, one longing and one unsure.
"So, did they do it? Did they?"
"I don't know, it's hard to see, even with bunoculars."
"Then let me have a try, gimme those!"
"Not on your life!"
"Gimmeeeeeeeee!"
*Smash*
"Those were Kakashi Sensei's. Good job, Ino-Pig. "
"WHAT?! At least I don't need a landing pad on my head to be noticed!"
"No, you need a hooker's outfit and a boob job. Which I suggest you get, Madame pancake."
Naruto's hand reached for the back of Hinata's neck, and it ran through her hair. "Hinata, you grow it out, why?"
She nodded, her lip trembling. "Yes... F-- for you. I heard you liked girls with long hair, so I... I--"
Hinata threw her arms around Naruto's neck and pulled him in. Their lips connected, and she held fast, refusing to pull away. Neither did Naruto.
When the moment ended, Hinata was short on breath, and Naruto looked dazed.
"I'm sorry, Naruto... I just wanted to--"
Naruto put a finger on her lips, shushing her.
"Hinata, you didn't have to change yourself for me, you were cute when we were Genin, I just didn't know I knew. But now, everything's changed but I think I like the new Hinata."
Hinata never thought she'd hear him say that, except in her dreams. "Naruto..." She hugged him tightly, tears flowing freely.
"Uh? Did I say something wrong?" He said a little confused.
"No. I just feel like I'm dreaming."
"Me too."
